iFlash App Reviews

waste of money unless only studying vocal words

Not bad if only studying words, wish could write in subscript so I could study chemistry without looking at a big mess of letters and numbers. Plus $15 is outrageous for only being able to type words. Wish I would have saved my money

UNSTABLE!!!!

This ap crashes everytime we run through a deck.

End the misery!

This program is outstanding for science majors. I would spend hours making flashcards and end up misplacing them. With this program, you will save yourself hours of misery . The program is easy to use; it allows you study (with options) on your computer and/or iPod/iPhone; and the best part is that it stores all your flashcards.

Works OK

I have used the basic functions of the app w/o problems. I did have a small issue with installation and wrote the iFlash Support a week ago. Still have not gotten a response from them. I have rated them 3 stars for this reason. I am really disappointed when an app does not have adequate, timely support for its product.

Profoundly time saving!

Instead making flashcards by hand or making them during study time like some dope, I make my cards during lecture. I have the powerpoint presentation on the left side of the screen and make flash cards on the right side. Copy pasting most lecture notes is so fast that I can listen to the lecture and take additional extra notes with the presentation. I leave the class with awesome flash cards ready to study!

Im in LOVE

This app has saved my sanity! I have a big exam coming up with tons of information and have been using hand written flash cards. The only problem with that is my hand writing is not that great and they take forever to write. I had planned to go to the store to purchase more packs of index cards and I found this app. It is so worth the money since I can type faster than I can write AND I can copy and paste information into the fields by tabbing with the cmd and tab key. In less than an hour I had 160 cards! AND I was able to quickly export them from my mac to my iPod touch. Now the material Im studying is sinking in. I LOVE this app!!!! Also BTW you can print them off too!

Great app

Wished the app showed when I have misspelled a word. Sometimes when Im typing fast I hit the wrong key without even realizing it. But all in all it gets the job done.

Awesome, I rely on this app daily… Man I wish they would update it.

Like most of the reviews on this app, it is very easy to use and has every functionality you could ask for… except: the mobile companion app is lacking some key things. First a search function. I use the search on the desktop app all the time. The second is the ability to view pictures that you may have imported to the card on the desktop version. As far as I can tell, there is no way to view these images on the mobile app. For those who were complaining about not being able to see the whole card on the mobile app, Ive discovered that you can pinch to zoom on the card which allows you to zoom out and see the rest of the text. How far (and how much text can be viewed), I dont know. But its there and I hope that info is useful to you. A way to modify the fonts and highlight text would be the only other things Id ask for. Otherwise, this is a solid app for any subject you are studying! Strongly recommend.

Best flashcard app Ive seen, but no updates in a long time; developer went to work for Apple

I wish I could rate it higher, but the developer seems to have abandoned it. Expect no updates or bug fixes if you buy it. Given the price, you may wonder if its worth it. I would still say it is. I love this app! Its nearly my ideal flashcard program. Its lacking a few fundamental features that Anki has (but makes incredibly difficult to access), but other than that it gives me everything I need: - Easy editing in a table view to create lots of cards fast. - Multiple "sides" per card. - Choice of fonts, picture, sound. Dont really need more than that for flashcards. - Excellent spaced repetition systems, at varying levels of sophistication, to make sure you remember what you review. The major Anki feature I would like is for the app to randomly choose sides to present in test mode and cover all angles, as it were—right now you can have it choose sides at random, but it will only present that card once, not as many times as there are sides. Import/export isnt terribly well thought-out, unfortunately, but you can figure it out with a little experimentation if you need this functionality. I have hit only a few minor bugs, and nothing that loses data (although it looked so at first).

Uploading feature not supported

This is in many ways a very useful flashcard tool. However, the Loopware web site seems not to have been maintained since 2011 and flash card decks can not be uploaded to it for sharing. I am a teacher and want to share decks Ive created with my students but cant because uploading to the server is the only way to transfer decks without a physical hook up to a computer. Too bad--the upload capability is worth three stars.

Good so far!

This is a great flash card app becasue you can, unlike most, have more than two sides. I use it to study Chinese so its nice to be able to have a side for characters, pinyin and the definition. The only glitch i have found so far is I cant pick what side to display first when studying them. Other than that the memorizing and studying tools work well! Overall great app

Aite

Wish it supported retina on Mac and iPhone

DO NOT BY THIS APP

There is no support attached. I worked well the first week and now it crashes all the time and will not sync to my iphone. There is no one to address these errors and I cannot get my money back for a faluty app.

awesome app for studying one problem

So this app is awesome, I use it for all my classes. I told my classmates I could upload my deck and they could study with it if the downloaded the app as well. They bought it and it WOULDNT LET ME UPLOAD said cant upload check loopware server connection. Ive tried in many different places various time. Yes I have a strong internet connection. I have no idea why it wont upload my decks :( HELP.

DO NOT BUY

No longer has a server to transfer to all mac devices. Have been trying to upload a deck to the deck library for 3 days now and still no contact from the developer. When sending a letter to the developer it says to enter the this year in subject and when entering 2013 said wrong it is 2011. Seems developer does not work on app anymore or support the server for it. If he gets server back up or writes me will let you know. Until then do not buy or you can only do the flash cards on your mac desktop/laptop.

Perfect Investment

Best 15$ I could spend. The cards sinc immediately to your other devices and there you have them. No more forgetting the note cards, dropping them in the rain, not wanting 500 note cards in your pocket at the gym. My studying is off the carts and I love it. Thanks for an awesome app.

Great flash card app but needs to be updated soon!

I love this program and use it for many things I need to learn and remember. Its got the easiest UI to work with and its quick and easy to enter and edit cards. It is my favorite program. But it hasnt been updated in quite a long time and other flash card programs have built-in features that I wish this program had. There are so many things I like about this program. The import/export, the merge of card decks, the editing interface, the menus and the way the whole thing works together is great. But my review is about how disappointed I am that the program hasnt been upgraded. For instnce, you can include audio and images, but you cant directly integrate the audio and images in the card itself. The audio and vido display in a popup over the card. There is also no built-in formating capabilities, so you cant color text, make text bold, layout text around an image, or put text in two columns on the card. I am learning Italian and I wish there were a way to put an Italian verb on the font of the card and then put the conjugation on the back of the card in 2 columns, with the singular on the left column and the plural conjugation in the right column as they show in most text books. There is also no direct support for text to speech, so you cant install and use languages (voices) in the cards themselves. I can use the text-to-voice capabilities on my Mac and I have other text-to-voice tools that will let me hear vocabulary in Italian, but these are not integrated directly into iFlash as it is with some other flash card programs. So hearing words in Italian is clunky. Finally, you can only search one card deck at a time, whereas other card sets let you search across multiple card decks. I have written the developer a couple of times about upgrades, but have never heard back from the developer -- and there is nothing stated on the Website about any planned enhancements.

I see potential

I bought this app to use for grad school. I can see how this would work well for nursing school or flash cards with short answers but for my program, I am writing out theories and bullet points. This is hard to type out and see in the line provided. I wish I could "open" each card and actually write it out on the card so I can format it better. Now it will appear this way when using the cards to study and you can edit at that point but it would be nice to be able to do it from the start. If you could double click on the line in the list and it would open the card, that would be helpful. I also found it a bit frustrating to quiz myself all over again. It has this neat option to mark cards "memorized" once you got it but I was at the end and wanted to review it all again and I struggled trying to view them all again. The iPhone app is ok. The export was really easy but you cant see the images or pdfs on the iPhone which wasnt good for me because I was memorizing charts. Also you cant change the color or background on the iphone app. I had some iTunes credit so the $15 price tag wasnt a big deal but I wouldnt have been happy had I actually paid that much for it.

Love it. Question tho...

I absolutely love this app. As a law school student, it makes a huge difference to be able to replicate the EXACT wording of a statute or case holding without running out of space on your card! The only thing I wish I could do is use the tab key to create indentations instead of skipping to the next card while in editor mode. That’s the only reason this app gets a 4 instead of a 5.

Good but could use some improvements

I actually really loved this app on my computer but once I exported it to my ipad and iphone I hated it. The pictures dont transfer over which I would love to see !! If that gets updated I would change my rating to a higher one
